Ali Abbasi is an Iranian-Danish filmmaker. After studying architecture in Stockholm, he trained at the National Film School of Denmark. His films include Shelley (2016), Cannes winner Border (2018), and Holy Spider (2022). The Apprentice (2024), an Irish-Canadian-Danish co-production, premiered at Cannes. Abbasi has directed HBO’s The Last of Us and recently led masterclasses in Ireland.
