Founded in 1946, the festival is now held annually at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. Irish cinema has featured across competition, sidebars, shorts & market screenings. The Wind That Shakes the Barley won the Palme d’Or, while The Lobster took the Jury Prize. Films including Garage, Vivarium, The Surfer and Kinds of Kindness have screened across Cannes sections. Recent and upcoming Irish-linked titles include Pillion, My Father’s Shadow, Saipan and Power Ballad.
