Sorkin grew up in Scarsdale, NY, active in school drama. He studied theater at Syracuse University intending to act, but shifted to writing. His early plays led to A Few Good Men, inspired by his sister’s Navy JAG case at Guantanamo Bay. He became a screenwriter and TV creator, writing The American President and Malice, contributing to Schindler’s List, and creating Sports Night and The West Wing. He has also worked with Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson and Andrew Scott.
