David's family opened their first cinema in 1942 & he grew up immersed in film. After a varied early career, including 5 years in Arctic oil exploration, he debuted with Cowboys & Angels (2003), a Limerick-set comedy which won multiple awards. He followed with The Front Line (2006) & then sold screenplays to major studios including Sony, Disney & Fox. His directing credits include Don’t Go (2017) & he wrote Tolkien (2019). His latest film Once Upon a Time in a Cinema premiered at DIFF 2026.
