Dublin actor Alan Devlin (1948–2011) was the son of a jazz musician. He was brought up in Booterstown and studied in Mount Merrion. His acting career began with the New Irish Players in Killarney. He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1984 (1983 season) for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for A Moon for the Misbegotten. He starred in many projects in TV and Film, including Leap Year (2010), The Long Good Friday (1980) and The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne (1987).
