He first gained prominence on stage, earning Tony and Laurence Olivier Award nominations for The Scottsboro Boys & appearing in productions including Passing Strange & Chicago. On screen, he is known for Fear the Walking Dead, Euphoria, Selma, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Zola & The Colour Purple. He won an Emmy for Euphoria & received Oscar nominations for Rustin and Sing Sing, which he also produced.
