Kathleen Doyle Bates was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Active since the early 1970s, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Misery (1990) & received multiple Primetime Emmys & Golden Globes. Her screen credits include Fried Green Tomatoes, Dolores Claiborne, Titanic, Primary Colors, About Schmidt, The Blind Side, Midnight in Paris, Richard Jewell & Matlock. Bates also starred in the Irish-set and Irish-produced film The Miracle Club alongside Maggie Smith and Laura Linney.
